Basketball Recap: Wills Point Comes Up Short

Wills Point played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Frankston Indians, falling 78-32. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1310th, while the Indians are ranked 474th).

When it comes to explaining why Wills Point lost, don't look at Sheldon Taylor. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. What's more, Taylor also racked up three steals, the most he's had since back in November. Another player making a difference was Chris James, who posted ten points.

Wills Point dropped their record down to 3-14 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Frankston, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Wills Point will be taking part in a tournament against Perrin-Whitt at 5:40 p.m. on Thursday. As for Frankston, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mt. Enterprise at 12:00 p.m. on December 31st. One thing working in Frankston's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 11 games.
