Basketball Recap: Summerville Skates Past Woodland with Ease

A well-balanced attack led Summerville over Woodland in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Summerville Green Wave blew the Woodland Wolverines out of the water with a 63-15 final score. The Green Wave have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 20 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Molly Daugherty, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards. That's the most boards she has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Daugherty, who posted nine points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Summerville was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodland only posted two assists.

Despite the defeat, Woodland saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Essence Walker put up ten points. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for Walker.

The victory was the sixth in a row for Summerville, bringing their record for this year to 11-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Woodland, they dropped their record down to 2-8 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Summerville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 44-35 win against Berkeley on the 3rd. As for Woodland, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-11 defeat against Fort Dorchester on the 4th.
