Basketball Recap: Ty Benton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead South Putnam over Northview

South Putnam was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They took a 62-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northview Knights. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 62-45 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

South Putnam lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ty Benton, who posted 11 points. The dominant performance gave Benton a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Isaac Garner, who had nine points and six rebounds.

It was another big night for Brayden Goff, who earned 17 points and eight boards for Northview. The match was Goff's third in a row with at least ten points. Quinn Lewis was another key player, putting up 11 points.

South Putnam's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Northview, their victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0.

South Putnam has already played their next game (against Cascade), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Northview has already played their next contest, a 74-61 defeat against Plainfield on the 18th.
