Softball Preview: Adairsville Tigers vs. Heritage Generals

Adairsville hasn't had much luck against Heritage recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Adairsville Tigers will host the Heritage Generals at 5:00 p.m. Adairsville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Adairsville finally turned things around against Northwest Whitfield on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Bruins by a score of 6-2.

Ashlyn Carlton was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

The result came thanks to Addie Edwards's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Molly Corvin was excellent, going 2-for-3 with a triple and a run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Ryans, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Heritage kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now hit at least eight hits in seven consecutive games.

Adairsville now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Heritage, their victory was their 30th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-1.
