Calvin barely beat Harrisonburg the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Bulldogs on Saturday. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Haley Martin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kyleigh Blundell was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylianne Barnes, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Calvin has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-13 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Harrisonburg, their loss dropped their record down to 19-10.
As of now, neither Calvin nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
