Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Damirian Thompson and DJ Hines Lead Opp to Victory

Opp got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They came out on top against the Pike County Bulldogs by a score of 49-42 on Tuesday. For the Bobcats, this counts as revenge for the 79-45 victory the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Leading Opp to victory were DJ Hines and Damirian Thompson. Hines dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards, while Thompson went 5 for 10 en route to 16 points. Thompson is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for five straight games.

Opp smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Opp's win bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Pike County, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Opp Bobcats take on the Straughn Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pike County, they will face off against New Brockton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
