Basketball Recap: Neumann Takes a Loss

Neumann lost against Bishop Verot back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Neumann Celtics took a hard 62-45 fall against the Bishop Verot Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Celtics can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 440th, while the Vikings are ranked 127th).

Bishop Verot's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Austin Leslie, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 17 points and three steals. Leslie is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Gavin Williams, who went 6 for 13 en route to 20 points.

Neumann's record now sits at 13-12. As for Bishop Verot, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Neumann will challenge Marco Island Academy on Monday. Bishop Verot has already played their next game (against Glades Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
