Basketball Preview: Van Vleck Leopards vs. East Bernard Brahmas

Van Vleck and the Brahmas are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Van Vleck Leopards will head out on the road to square off against the East Bernard Brahmas at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Corey Austin and Maddox Crist.

Van Vleck has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 60-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Boling on Friday.

Meanwhile, East Bernard scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They claimed a resounding 88-42 win over Harmony School of Discovery on the road. East Bernard has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 20 points or more this season.

Crist was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points. Another player making a difference was Ty Domel, who scored 15 points.

Van Vleck's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-9. As for East Bernard, they have been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Van Vleck beat the Brahmas 47-37 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Van Vleck since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
