Basketball Game Preview: Cheyenne Desert Shields vs. Bonanza Bengals

The Cheyenne Desert Shields will face off against the Bonanza Bengals at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Cheyenne is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game back in December of 2024. They came up short against Valley, falling 48-27.

Cheyenne might have lost, but man, Elissa Sambo was a machine: she posted seven points along with nine steals and five blocks. Those five blocks gave Sambo a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackie Soncini, who had seven points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Bonanza played a tough game on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Valley 51-14. The Bengals haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Bonanza's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Cheyenne, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-5.

Cheyenne was able to grind out a solid victory over Bonanza when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 41-32. Will Cheyenne repeat their success, or does Bonanza have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
