Baseball Recap: Maple River Beats Waseca for Their Seventh Straight Win

Maple River came tearing into Tuesday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Waseca Bluejays with a sharp 11-1 win. Considering the Eagles have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Caleb Thompson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Wyatt Walters was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Maple River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Maple River's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Waseca, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-12.

Looking ahead, Maple River will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Sibley East at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 3.9, the Wolverines 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Waseca, they will challenge Triton at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
