Basketball Preview: Pymatuning Valley Lakers vs. Chalker Wildcats
Pymatuning Valley is 7-1 against the Wildcats since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Pymatuning Valley Lakers will head out on the road to take on the Chalker Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Pymatuning Valley has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 80-59 walloping at the hands of Badger on Friday.
Meanwhile, Chalker's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 68-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Maplewood. Chalker has struggled against the Rockets recently, as their match on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Pymatuning Valley's defeat ended a 16-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-5. As for Chalker, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-14.
Everything came up roses for Pymatuning Valley against the Wildcats in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 79-44 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pymatuning Valley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
