Softball Game Preview: Fort Edward Flying Forts vs. North Warren Central Cougars

The Fort Edward Flying Forts will take on the North Warren Central Cougars at 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Fort Edward had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Salem put an end to it on Monday. The Flying Forts came up short against the Generals, falling 6-0. The Flying Forts have struggled against the Generals recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Bradie Tyler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for North Warren Central's offense. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 13-0 to Fort Edward, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

North Warren Central dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Fort Edward, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Everything went Fort Edward's way against North Warren Central in their previous matchup on Tuesday, as Fort Edward made off with a 13-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Flying Forts since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
