The Gonzales Apaches's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 51-39 to Yoakum. Gonzales has struggled against Yoakum recently, as their match on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Among those leading the charge was Destiny Rios, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Yoakum's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayana Phillips, who scored 11 points along with 3 steals.
Gonzales has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Yoakum, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-4.
Gonzales will take on Blanco at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Blanco is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. Yoakum's road trip will continue as they head out to face Devine.
