Basketball Recap: San Manuel Drops Highest Score of Season Against Valley Lutheran

After flying high against Superior last Thursday, San Manuel came back down to earth. The San Manuel Miners fell 53-45 to the Valley Lutheran Flames on Friday. One positive for the Miners, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Leading Valley Lutheran to victory were Natalia Hernandez and Anika Winter. Hernandez almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine steals, while Winter dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. What's more, Hernandez also racked up four assists, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Viddiate Clinton, who posted eight points and four steals.

San Manuel's loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Valley Lutheran, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Manuel will challenge Duncan at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. San Manuel has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Valley Lutheran, they will square off against Superior at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Valley Lutheran is facing Superior at the right time seeing as Superior is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
