Preview: Dayton Dust Devils vs. Spring Creek Spartans
Dayton has enjoyed the comforts of home their last five games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Spring Creek Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Dayton suffered their biggest defeat since November 27, 2023 on Friday. They were dealt a 54-9 defeat at the hands of Fernley. While losing is never fun, Dayton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while Fernley is ranked fourth).
Meanwhile, Spring Creek's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. Their rough 46-25 defeat to Churchill County might stick with them for a while.
Dayton has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Spring Creek, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-12.
Dayton ended up a good deal behind Spring Creek when the teams last played on January 12th, losing 41-26. Can Dayton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
