Softball Recap: Howell Find Success

While Howell's victory against Stevenson wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Highlanders had just enough and edged out the Spartans 2-1 on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Highlanders in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won seven in a row.

Gianna Gentile made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That's the most hits she has posted over her last ten matches.

In other batting news, Zoey Overton was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Leighton Scott, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Howell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 9-1-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Howell's victory bumped their record up to 14-11-1. As for Stevenson, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 12-6-1.

Howell will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Spartans: the pair will be back at it again later today.
