Soccer Game Preview: Amherst County vs. Glass

Amherst County hasn't had much luck against Glass recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Lancers will be playing at home against the Hilltoppers at 6:00 p.m. Amherst County has given up an average of 2.6 goals per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Amherst County came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Liberty Christian, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, Amherst County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 138th, while Liberty Christian are ranked 22nd).

Meanwhile, Glass entered their tilt with Liberty on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their defense stepped up to hand the Minutemen a 6-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for Glass, who have now won five contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Glass' win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 28 goals over those five matches. As for Amherst County, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
