Softball Recap: Desert Wins Going Away Against Frazier Mountain

Desert's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 20-6 margin over the Frazier Mountain Falcons. Considering the Scorpions have won four matchups by more than ten runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Alayna Phillips made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Phillips was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Rachel Hewes was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last four times she's played. Caroline Kesler was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one stolen base.

Desert always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .763. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Desert's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.7 runs over those games. As for Frazier Mountain, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Desert will welcome Lee Vining at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Frazier Mountain, they will square off against Bishop Union at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
