Baseball Recap: Sherrard Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Sherrard can now relate to. They fell just short of the Eureka Hornets by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday. The Tigers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Aidan Terronez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sherrard saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Garrett Woodward, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Sherrard's defeat dropped their record down to 19-9. As for Eureka, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 32-4.

Sherrard does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Eureka, they will face off against Illinois Valley Central at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Grey Ghosts will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Hornets surely won't give up without a fight.
