Preview: Carroll Eagles vs. Barbour County Jaguars
The Carroll Eagles and the Barbour County Jaguars will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Carroll has five straight victories, Barbour County has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Tuesday, Carroll made easy work of Luverne and carried off a 64-41 win.
Carroll's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Devon Pruitt, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks, and Peyton Plott, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The match was Pruitt's third in a row with at least ten points. N'jia Gosha was another key contributor, scoring six points along with four blocks.
Meanwhile, Barbour County's 16-5 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were beaten by Eufaula 80-42 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Barbour County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 415th, while Eufaula is ranked 146th).
Carroll is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. As for Barbour County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.
Everything came up roses for Carroll against Barbour County in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 80-51 win. Does Carroll have another victory up their sleeve, or will Barbour County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
