The Lanier Christian Academy Lightning will square off against the New Creation Christian Academy Crusaders at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lanier Christian Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Lanier Christian Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to St. John Bosco Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 52-18 victory. With the Lightning ahead 29-5 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Lanier Christian Academy can attribute much of their success to Adelyn Gough, who posted ten points and six rebounds. What's more, Gough also posted a 67% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Julianne Roberts was another key player, putting up eight points.
Meanwhile, New Creation Christian Academy ended up a good deal behind Konos Academy back in November and lost 41-25. The Crusaders haven't had much luck with the Condor recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Lanier Christian Academy will need to focus on slowing down Elisabeth Metz, one of several New Creation Christian Academy players who made an impact when they last played. She had 11 points and seven boards. Metz continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Barry, who scored no points along with ten rebounds and five steals.
Lanier Christian Academy now has a winning record of 3-2. As for New Creation Christian Academy, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Lanier Christian Academy has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 32 boards per game. However, it's not like New Creation Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 37.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
