Softball Preview: Addison Knights vs. Wellsville Lions
Addison has won four straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Wellsville has won four straight on the road also dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Knights will welcome the Lions at 5:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Monday.
On Friday, Addison made easy work of Hammondsport and carried off a 17-5 victory. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Lakers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Hadleigh Watson and Ava Knowles did most of the damage at the plate: Watson scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5, while Knowles went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles Knowles has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lilly Byler, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Wellsville challenged Honeoye Falls-Lima on Thursday. The Lions put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 13-1 victory.
Wellsville's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Addison, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Addison might still be hurting after the 17-2 loss they got from Wellsville in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
