Softball Game Preview: Napoleon Wildcats vs. Northview Wildcats

Napoleon will take on Northview at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Napoleon will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Napoleon turned things around against Wauseon on Wednesday. They walked away with a 12-7 victory over the Indians.

Kendall Horner (Jr) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Faith Rubinstein (Jr) was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Jessica Patterson (Jr) was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Napoleon hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Meanwhile, Northview never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Notre Dame Academy. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Northview has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Napoleon, their victory bumped their record up to 10-14-1.
