Football Recap: Stratford Spartans vs. Westside Wolves

With a playoff game on the line, Stratford rose to the challenge on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Westside Wolves 58-26. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won seven matches by 21 points or more so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Stratford to victory, but perhaps none more so than Davis Kendall, who rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. The dominant performance gave Kendall a new career-high in rushing yards. Hunter Biehl was in the mix as well, providing Stratford with two touchdowns.

Stratford was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 280 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 151 rushing yards in four consecutive games.

Stratford wouldn't let Westside keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Stratford can thank Eric Ferworn and Parker Johnson for forcing both of them. Johnson has been hot for a while, having also posted six or more total tackles the last 13 times he's played.

When it comes to explaining why Westside lost, don't look at Dillyn White. Despite the final result, he rushed for 204 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. White's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. Finn Eidskrem was another key player, rushing for 69 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.

Stratford's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Westside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-8.

Stratford and Jordan are set to duel on Friday. Jordan will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Stratford surely won't give up without a fight. Westside does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
