The Doddridge County Bulldogs will face off against the Ritchie County Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Doddridge County 3.5, Ritchie County 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Doddridge County is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over Braxton County. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 12 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Madison Curran and Isabella Holtz did most of the damage at the plate: Curran went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Holtz went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI Holtz has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia See, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Ritchie County had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They came out on top against the Hawks by a score of 7-2.
Rocklyn Marcum made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Chelsie Jeffrey was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Rindy Perkins was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Doddridge County's victory bumped their record up to 24-5. As for Ritchie County, their win bumped their record up to 16-4-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Doddridge County has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Ritchie County struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
