Preview: Block Island vs. Davies Career & Tech Patriots
Block Island will head out on the road to square off against the Davies Career & Tech Patriots at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Block Island focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday.
Block Island scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They strolled past Times Squared Academy with points to spare, taking the game 51-32.
Block Island's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Haley Conant led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Conant has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Payne, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Davies Career & Tech came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Providence Country Day 49-17 on the road. Davies Career & Tech has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 22 points or more this season.
Block Island's victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-8. As for Davies Career & Tech, their victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-1.
Block Island lost to Davies Career & Tech on the road by a decisive 51-37 margin in their previous meeting last Tuesday. Can Block Island avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
