Basketball Recap: Damien Extends Winning Streak to Five

Damien extended their winning streak to five on Saturday, bumping them up to 5-0. They came out on top against the Canyon Comanches by a score of 68-59. This was payback for the Spartans, who suffered a 60-55 defeat the last time these two teams met.

As for Canyon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (55), they still had to take the loss.

Several Comanches players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Pierce Haugen, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine boards. Haugen continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rami Awad, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 14 points.

Coming up, Damien will square off against Venice at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Canyon, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Colony at 6:00 p.m. on December 8.
