Baseball Recap: Wesley Chapel Drops Season-High Score on Springstead

Wesley Chapel barely beat Springstead the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wesley Chapel Wildcats blew past the Springstead Eagles 10-0 on Thursday. The Wildcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Eli Chana tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Wesley Chapel got a big performance out of Nolan Hartley, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs Hartley has posted since back in April of 2024. Dylan Pabon was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

Wesley Chapel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory (which was Wesley Chapel's fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-4. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs across that stretch. As for Springstead, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-3 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wesley Chapel will square off against Berkeley Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Wesley Chapel 2.8, Berkeley Prep 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Springstead, they will face off against Florida Christian at 7:15 p.m. on March 21st. Springstead's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Florida Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
