Baseball Recap: Roosevelt Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Poudre, Roosevelt was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Berthoud Spartans. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Roughriders have posted since April 30, 2024.

Israel Castillo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

In other batting news, Jeremiah Bradberry was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

Roosevelt's victory bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Berthoud, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-8.

Roosevelt will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Spartans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
