Soccer Recap: Central Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Central kept a clean sheet against Southwest EC on Friday. They came out on top against the Southwest EC Eagles by a score of 2-0. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the Eagles are ranked 726th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Joseph Rosas and Mishel Villanueva scored both of Central's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 43 goals.

Central's win bumped their record up to 17-2-3. As for Southwest EC, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10-3 record this season.

Central will face off against Holtville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Holtville's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Southwest EC, they will take on Brawley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
