The Northside Christian Mustangs waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They took down Admiral Farragut 57-41. Given Northside Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 288th, while Admiral Farragut is ranked 644th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Northside Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lilyana Scull, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Ava Somers, who scored 16 points.
Northside Christian is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Admiral Farragut, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
Northside Christian won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Canterbury at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Canterbury focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six last Wednesday. As for Admiral Farragut, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Hollins at 6:00 p.m.
