Baseball Recap: Mountain Ridge Triumphs

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Mountain Ridge walked away with it. They skirted past the Layton Lancers 9-7. This was a revenge game for the Sentinels: when they faced off against the Lancers on Thursday, they had to take a 6-4 defeat.

The team relied heavily on Stockton Fowlks, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Mountain Ridge is undefeated when Fowlks posts two or more runs, but 8-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ethan Iacono, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Mountain Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March.

Mountain Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. As for Layton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-16 record this season.

Mountain Ridge will face off against Riverton at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Layton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
