Baseball Recap: Bel Air Triumphs

Bel Air took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against Americas, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Highlanders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 15-14 win over the Trail Blazers on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Highlanders needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Tavi Santa Cruz was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Andrew Chavez was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Bel Air kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Bel Air's victory bumped their record up to 14-8. As for Americas, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 14-6-1.

Coincidentally, Bel Air and Americas will both be playing Horizon the next time they take the field. The Trail Blazers will host the Scorpions at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Highlanders will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on the 14th.
