Basketball Recap: Asheboro Comes Up Short

Asheboro was the 49-20 winner over Eastern Guilford when they last played one another back in February of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Asheboro Blue Comets were dealt a 51-15 defeat at the hands of the Eastern Guilford Wildcats on Saturday. The match marked the Blue Comets' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

A'Mya Mosby was Asheboro's leading scorer, having posted four points. Patience Cummings held things down on the boards with seven rebounds. Malaika Khan took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Asheboro has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Eastern Guilford, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-8.

Asheboro will challenge Eastern Randolph at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Eastern Guilford, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Eastern Guilford Wildcats challenge the Rockingham County Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Rockingham County will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Eastern Guilford surely won't give up without a fight.
