Shadow Ridge comes up short despite Shaelyn Anthony's dominant performance

Recap: Shadow Ridge Stallions vs. Valley Vista Monsoon

After a string of three wins, the Shadow Ridge Stallions's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They suffered a rough 69-45 loss at the hands of Valley Vista. Shadow Ridge was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-23.

When it comes to explaining why Shadow Ridge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Shaelyn Anthony. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Anthony has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Holub, who scored eight points along with two steals.

Valley Vista got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jada Wilson out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Emma Dasovich, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.

Shadow Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Valley Vista, their win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4.

Shadow Ridge will head out on the road to challenge Tolleson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Valley Vista, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Maricopa at 7:00 p.m. Maricopa will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 238th, while Valley Vista is ranked 18th).
