Basketball Recap: Logan Laverty's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Monarch over Longmont

Monarch played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Longmont Trojans, falling 78-54. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Coyotes have suffered since December 13, 2024.

Monarch lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Logan Laverty, who posted ten points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Justin Myers, who had 11 points along with three steals and three blocks.

Longmont's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joey Foot led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. Foot has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Jacob Foot was another key player, going 6 of 10 on his way to 17 points.

The defeat snapped Monarch's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-8 record. As for Longmont, they pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Monarch will challenge Legacy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Legacy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.8 points per game this season. Longmont has already played their next contest (against Holy Family), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
