Recap: Poplar Springs Atomics vs. Rehobeth Rebels

The Poplar Springs Atomics's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 62-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Rehobeth. While losing is never fun, Poplar Springs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 671st in Florida, while Rehobeth is ranked 271st in Alabama).

Despite the loss, Poplar Springs still got an impressive performance from James Gilmore, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gilmore has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Baron Hall, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.

Poplar Springs has not been sharp recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season. As for Rehobeth, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-11 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poplar Springs will challenge Holmes County at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rehobeth, they will head out on the road to challenge Eufaula at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Eufaula knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 18 matchups -- so hopefully Rehobeth likes a good challenge.
