Recap: Scottsbluff Bearcats vs. McCook Bison
The Scottsbluff Bearcats won the last time they faced the McCook Bison, and things went their way on Saturday too. Scottsbluff walked away with a 59-52 victory over McCook. Given Scottsbluff's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while McCook is ranked 124th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Scottsbluff found their leader in underclassman Nate Kelley, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Another player making a difference was Esai Sabala, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Scottsbluff is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for McCook, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Scottsbluff's road trip will continue as they head out to face Gering at 7:00 p.m. on February 16th. As for McCook, they will square off against Cozad at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cozad is coming into the matchup with four straight wins at home, so McCook is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
