Softball Game Preview: Vance Charter Knights vs. Warren County Eagles

The Vance Charter Knights will square off against the Warren County Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Vance Charter is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

Warren County is facing Vance Charter at the wrong time: Vance Charter suffered their first home loss of the season on Tuesday and they're likely out for redemption. They lost 11-3 to the Grizzlies.

Leah Rice put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run.

Rice wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kendall Ayscue, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Ava Lovings was another, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three matchups, Warren County finally came back down to earth on Tuesday. They fell just short of J.F. Webb by a score of 2-1. The loss was the Eagles' first of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Warren County fell to 3-1. As for Vance Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
