Baseball Game Preview: Sierra Timberwolves vs. Patterson Tigers

For the second straight game, Sierra will face off against Patterson. The Timberwolves will face off against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Sierra took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Patterson.

For Patterson's part, Eliseo (Cheo) Espinoza was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. That's the fewest earned runs Espinoza has allowed since back in March.

On the hitting side, Patterson saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Pierce, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was Pierce's first of the season.

Sierra is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-14 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Patterson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 15 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.
