Baseball Recap: Highland Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Highland, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They came out on top against the Quartz Hill Royals by a score of 8-5 on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Mateo Dominguez and Cole Studt did most of the damage at the plate: Dominguez scored two runs while going 1-for-3, while Studt scored a run while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave Studt a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Carrillo, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Highland has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Quartz Hill, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-10.

Coming up, Highland is taking a road trip to face off against Antelope Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs are facing the Antelopes at the right time seeing as the Antelopes are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Quartz Hill, they will host Eastside at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.24 runs per game on average), something the Royals will no doubt try to take advantage of.
