It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Capital ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Santa Fe Demons 7-6. This was a revenge game for the Jaguars: when they faced off against the Demons last Saturday, they had to take a 9-2 defeat.

Ava Martinez spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up 12 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Kaylie Sandoval was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kahlila Chesney, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI.

Capital's victory bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Santa Fe, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Capital will challenge rival La Cueva at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Santa Fe is set to square off against their familiar foe Manzano at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
