Preview: Wilcox Central Jaguars vs. Southside Panthers
The Wilcox Central Jaguars will be home for the holidays to greet the Southside Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wilcox Central will be looking to keep their 11-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Saturday, Wilcox Central didn't have too much trouble with Central of Coosa County on the road as they won 66-52. Given Wilcox Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while Central of Coosa County is ranked 288th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Southside's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 67-39 loss at the hands of Lanier. Southside has not had much luck with Lanier recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Wilcox Central is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Southside, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Wilcox Central strolled past Southside in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 by a score of 33-19. Does Wilcox Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will Southside turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
