Basketball Game Preview: Marion County Mustangs vs. Knox County Eagles

The Marion County Mustangs will venture away from home to take on the Knox County Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Marion County has five straight wins, Knox County has 12 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Marion County will bounce into Monday's match after beating Mark Twain, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Marion County blew past Mark Twain 72-37 on Friday. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Knox County took a blow against Schuyler County on Friday, falling 73-32. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 534th, while the Rams are ranked 266th).

Marion County's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points per game. As for Knox County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-15.

Marion County strolled past Knox County when the teams last played two weeks ago by a score of 67-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marion County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
