Volleyball Recap: R-S Central Falls Short of Maiden in the Playoffs

R-S Central and Maiden squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but R-S Central had to settle for second. They came up short against the Blue Devils, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hilltoppers of the 3-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2018.

Mya Calloway paced R-S Central's offense, picking up 11 kills. Calloway got some help from Lucy Sherburne and her 14 assists. Finally, Mazie Player kept R-S Central's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

R-S Central's defeat dropped their record down to 17-12. As for Maiden, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 18 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season.

R-S Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Maiden, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Ashe County at 6:00 p.m.
