Basketball Game Preview: St. Petersburg Green Devils vs. Sunlake Seahawks

The St. Petersburg Green Devils and the Sunlake Seahawks will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. St. Petersburg is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.5 points per game this season.

On Thursday, St. Petersburg beat Hackettstown 47-37. That's two games straight that the Green Devils have won by exactly ten points.

St. Petersburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shaw Summer led the charge by dropping a triple-double on 15 points, 17 boards, and ten blocks. Summer has been hot for a while, having posted two or more blocks the last 12 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mckenzie Bell, who went 6 of 14 en route to 16 points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sunlake). They blew past Gulf, posting a 69-38 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Seahawks who have now won five matchups in a row.

Sunlake's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.0 points per game. As for St. Petersburg, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
