Baseball Recap: North Providence Wins High-Profile Game Against St. Raphael Academy

North Providence faced St. Raphael Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Cougars came out on top against the Saints by a score of 8-3. This was payback for the Cougars, who suffered a 4-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Vin Pontarelli spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, North Providence let Jayden Allard and Carter Harris run wild. Allard went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double, while Harris went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three RBI gave Allard a new career-high.

North Providence kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

North Providence's win bumped their record up to 14-6. As for St. Raphael Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.

North Providence does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Raphael Academy, they are taking a road trip to challenge Burrillville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
