Softball Recap: Mercer Island Comes Up Short

If Mercer Island was riding high fresh off their 22-1 takedown of Foster on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Islanders fell 9-5 to the Evergreen Wolverines on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolverines this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-1 on April 3rd.

Mercer Island's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Evergreen, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Mercer Island will look to defend their home field on Friday against Lindbergh at 6:00 p.m. The Eagles will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Islanders surely won't give up without a fight. As for Evergreen, they will head out to face off against Renton at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wolverines' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red Hawks have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
