Softball Game Preview: Flour Bluff Hornets vs. Mission Eagles

The Flour Bluff Hornets are taking a road trip to take on the Mission Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Flour Bluff is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

While Flour Bluff's victory against King wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hornets skirted past the Mustangs 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hornets have posted since March 15th.

The team relied heavily on Mia Ortega, who went 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Veda Pressley was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases and one run.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Mission nor Palmview made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Eagles walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Lobos. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Flour Bluff's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Mission, their win bumped their record up to 14-9.
