Baseball Recap: Central Catholic Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Central Catholic entered their tilt with Nelson on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against Nelson by a score of 6-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Rams also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2025.

Sam Smith made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Central Catholic is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 7-8 otherwise. Smith was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).

Central Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Nelson, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.

Central Catholic will have a chance to go back-to-back against Nelson: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
